Value-Added Technical Reports

Ohio’s Value-added system uses an advanced methodology (Education Value-added Assessment System – EVAAS) initially formulated by William Sanders and further developed by Sanders and colleagues at SAS Institute, Inc. These procedures, while computationally complex, have a substantial body of empirical testing in the research literature to support them. This helps assure the validity and usefulness of the resulting measures as they are used in high stakes applications. In addition to the value-added (school and district effects) measures derived from this methodology, Ohio uses EVAAS to compute its federally approved Growth Model (student level projections for AYP).
