Autism Scholarship Provider Information

Requirements

Providers who are nonpublic schools must comply with the following requirements to participate in the Autism Scholarship Program:

  1. Nonpublic schools must have a current state charter and be registered to participate in the Autism Scholarship program. Registration starts in the month of December.
  2. School principal must be  licensed by the State of Ohio, Office of Educator Licensure.
  3. Principal must have a OH|ID account.

  4. Participating providers must renew their participation every year.
  5. Nonpublic school providers are responsible for keeping their school's OEDSR record up to date and current.

Providers who are not private schools must comply with the following requirements to participate in the Autism Scholarship Program:

  1. Provider must be an existing business providing special education services to children and be registered to participate in the Autism Scholarship program.  Registration starts in the month of December.
  2. Provider staff must be credentialed to provide the special education services they are offering through the Autism Scholarship Program.
  3. Owner must have a OH|ID account.

  4. Participating providers must renew their participation every year.

Providers in the Autism Scholarship program are required to provide progress reports to the resident district about the child’s progress related to goals and services on the IEP. The district will use those reports to update the student’s IEP.

The provider must be in compliance with Ohio Revised Code 3319.39, 3319.391 and 3319.392 regarding background checks as if it were a school district. The provider application has a staff tab where staff and the date of their most recent check can be entered.

The provider must meet all applicable health and safety standards, which may include but is not limited to reports issued by the health department and/or the fire department. The reports must be current and on file at the provider location. Copies of the documents can be submitted to ODE through the document tab of the online provider application.
