Teacher Supply and Demand in Ohio

ODE is currently working with the Ohio Education Research Center (OERC) to develop an analysis of the supply and demand for K-12 teachers in Ohio.  This study will determine where there are shortages (and excesses) of teachers across grade levels, subjects taught (including specialized classes i.e. vocational or special ed.), and location.  This study will also forecast future changes to the supply/demand for Ohio teachers.  This forecast can inform policy makers, teacher preparation programs, and school districts/ESCs in forming strategic plans as they relate to teacher supply/demand.  The current study is likely to be completed later in 2013. For copies of the 2007 supply and demand report, contact lori.lofton@education.ohio.gov
